Bonanza allowed America to follow the adventures of the Cartwright family, father Ben and sons Adam, Hoss and Little Joe, in the Lake Tahoe area of California. Bonanza was a unique western program for it’s time as the story lines tended to center more on the relationship of Ben and his sons, their neighbors and the causes for which they stood rather than the common theme of “cops and robbers” that were the focus of many westerns.
